A guide to building granny flats in NSW
STEP 1.
Initial consultation is conducted on site.
Site survey is completed.
Compliance report and property searches are undertaken.
Let’s get the ball rolling! We’ll meet you onsite to discuss the exciting options available to you. Once we’ve determined the size and position available for your granny flat build, we’ll arrange the reports and searches required so the surveyor can proceed.
Cost: Average $1,500+ gst * conditions apply
STEP 2.
Architectural plans are finalised.
We’ll organise engineering if needed.
Your application for approval is submitted.
Depending on whether you pick from one of our designs or we design one for you, we will organise the engineering for the project.
Then we’re now ready to put in the application in for approval.
If your granny flat is eligible for Complying Development, it can be approved in as little as 20 Days. Otherwise, a Development Application is required for Council submission (costs can vary from Council to Council)
Cost: Average $1,950 + gst * Conditions apply (Development Application for Council not included).
STEP 3.
Appointment of the Private Certifier or Council.
All inspections.
Approval and Occupation Certificate are obtained.
Let the fun begin! Once approved, the building process can begin. The Certifier or Council will complete all necessary inspections right through to completion so you can obtain an Occupation Certificate.
Cost: Average $2,500 + gst *Conditions apply (This is an average cost for building fees. Your selected granny flat cost is not included).
STEP 4.
CONGRATULATIONS!
You’ll receive your Occupation Certificate and a set of keys to your brand new granny flat.
